Organist/Pianist (Music Assistant)

Major Requirement:

Must be:

· A believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ

· Familiar with the order of service of the Baptist Church

· Able to play hymns and standards of the Baptist Church

· Timely and Dependable

· Able to play for First Sunday Night’s Services

Principal Function:

The organist (pianist)/music assistant is responsible to the minister of music for serving at the organ/piano and assisting in the music ministry.

Responsibilities:

Play the instrument for all regular and special services of the church.
Serve as accompanist for choirs, ensembles, soloists, or instrumentalists in regular and special rehearsals and performances, as needed.
Play for weddings and funerals as requested.
Assist in planning worship services, choir rehearsals and special music events.
Plan and give direction to a training program designed for developing vocal quality as it relates to church music.
Maintain a regular weekly schedule of choir rehearsals.
Serve as the worship leader in the absence of the minister of music.
Work with the Directors of all choirs.
Work with the graded choirs as assigned.
Review, select, and purchase new music appropriate worship in the local congregation.
Perform other duties as necessary.
